Counteracting gravity is the additional pressure of the excess matter. It is therefore of considerable importance to note that the inflationary model may allow us to specify the nature, the spectrum and even the amplitude of these fluctuations. Let us look first at the nature of the fluctuations. There are two main classes: those in which both the radiation and the matter were perturbed, and those in which essentially only the matter was perturbed (so that the radiation density and hence T remained essentially constant).
