Argentina and Brazil go home early in 2011 Copa America

Carlos Tevez’s penalty miss in the shootout of their quarter-final against Uruguay proved to be decisive.  He missed the only penalty in his team’s five shots, and Uruguay made sure they didn’t miss any of them.  Brazil also lost in a penalty shootout, having all four of their penalty takers miss their shots.  Paraguay only had to knock in two to secure their victory.  So, the two South American powerhouses were sent home after the quarter-finals against none other than the two teams in the final.  Paraguay and Uruguay seem on the way up, and Argentina and Brazil seem on the way down.  Brazil played many younger players such as Read On..

Football Rivalries : Superclasico

This Rivalry is a special one dubbed the “Superclasico”, first contested in 1913 and located in Buenos Aires Argentina. The two strongest Argentine clubs possess 73% of the fans in Argentina between them; it has been listed as one of the most high profiled derby games of any sport around the world where the fans are more passionate than your average football team including those from Liverpool, Leeds or West Ham.

This is a rivalry where tension runs higher than any other rivalry in the world producing that unwanted by-product of violence.
